Special Education
P.S. 145 takes pride in its commitment to diversity and inclusivity by offering a range of special education services that cater to the needs of all learners.
About the Special Education Program
P.S. 145 proudly embraces a diverse and inclusive educational approach by offering a variety of special education services to meet the needs of all learners. There is an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) class for every grade. The ICT model is instruction provided by two teachers: one special education teacher and one general education, in a general education classroom. Additionally, we provide Special Class 12:1+1 that allows students to learn in a smaller setting with less students and the support of a paraprofessional. Mandated students can also receive Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS). SETSS allows students to receive small group instruction from a special education teacher in a small group of up to 8 students.
We are committed to comprehensive support; our institution extends beyond academics. We can offer related services such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and counseling. Our full-time providers are able to support students throughout the school day for mandated services.
If you have concerns about your child's development or academics, our dedicated team is well-equipped to guide and support families through the special education process. Our Special Education Coordinator is able to discuss all of our services and assist in providing students with the support they may need. Please email Kristin Kolenovic at kkolenovic@schools.nyc.gov.
